It’s time to put up “Florida is Open for Business” signs. The state’s boarded up economy and massive job loss dictate it’s time to get moving again.
The numbers tell us we avoided catastrophic COVID-19 projections of just a month ago. Instead of 400,000+ hospital beds needed this week, 33% to 43% of hospital beds remain available. We have a comfortable excess capacity of ventilators and ICU beds.
As Florida’s daily testing results remain the same or better, and trends in hospital and ICU utilization remain stable, businesses must be brought back utilizing new safety protocols.
Governor DeSantis can throttle back the rate of business openings if he sees upward pressure in available hospital beds or ICU capacity.
It’s time Governor, for our people to get back to work.
