Today is a day for America to call out to God and to pray.
President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation designated and required by the United States Congress that this day be a day for Americans “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.”
President Abraham Lincoln first established it as Thanksgiving Day in 1863. Later, President Harry Truman established what we know today as The National Day of Prayer in 1952.
This year’s theme is to “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth,” according to Habakkuk 2:14, which proclaims, “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
The COVID-19 pandemic brings a new emphasis for this year’s prayer and our need for His divine guidance.
May we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand.

Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
