“Will Local Newspapers In America Be Dead In 5 Years”
Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
Where and how Americans get their news is a rapidly changing phenomena.
Gone are the days where the daily newspaper thrown on the front porch is an anticipated event. Newspapers were pushed aside by local television news outlets, outlets that themselves are being pushed aside by the cable news networks.
Will local newspapers be all but extinct in 5 years?
New York Times Editor Dean Baquet predicts so.
Baquet says “I think most local newspapers in America are going to die in the next 5 years, except for the ones who have been bought by a local billionaire.”
With the rules of good journalism all but gone and fake news leading the headlines, I guess “Saturday Night Live” and the late night talk show hosts will be growing in influential with their perception of news events.
May God help us all!
