The gloves are off, and the Republican firing squad participants are already taking their places.
With the announcement that Fox will host the first Republican debate on August 23, the race for the 2024 Republican nominee for President has gone ugly early.
Governor DeSantis had just begun to ratchet up his attacks against President Trump’s constant attack and trademark name-calling.
Now former South Carolina Governor and U. S. Ambassador Niki Haley has come out swinging for the fences against both DeSantis and Trump.
All this is before the most expected aggressive antagonist to Trump, the brash, former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christi, hasn’t begun to attack.
Add a growing field of Republican candidates rivaling the starting posts at the Kentucky Deby, and it will be a long, hot, negative summer for Republicans.
Bill Bunkley is a 17-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm.
