“New Gallop Poll: Americans Belief in God Drops to New Low”

A new Values and Beliefs Gallop poll was released, finding that 17% of Americans do not believe in God.

Gallop first asked this question in 1944 and has asked it via their poll several times since then.

In 2017 87% of Americans believed in God. That number dropped this year to 81%, representing a new low since Gallop began asking the question.

Younger, liberal Americans are least likely to believe in God. Four in ten say God can hear prayers and can intervene. But 28% of Americans say God hears prayers but cannot intervene, while 11% think God does neither.

Republicans believe God hears prayers and intervenes by 54%; Democrats drop to 32%, while Independents come in at 39%.

Declines are readily apparent in church attendance, church membership, and confidence in organized religion.

America needs a 3rd Great Awakening.
