The 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee will be one history will not soon forget.
An assassin's bullet was just millimeters away from changing the face, outcome, and very life of their Presidential nominee, Donald John Trump.
This will be different from the convention I envisioned leading up to this historic week. Although the convention schedule will remain the same, Trump considered arriving a couple of days later than expected but ultimately decided to come as scheduled on Sunday.
The convention will be a boisterous "Rocky Balboa," week-long celebration.
The iconic Trump photo of his bloodied ear, his raised fist proclaiming to "fight" on, backlit by the American flag and clear blue sky, will be the new Republican battle cry.
America will be watching a transformational moment. Will they see a new Donald Trump?
Bill Bunkley is an 18-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 28 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
