Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something To Think About”
On Monday, July 17, 2017, the following “Something to Think About” was scheduled for broadcast and publication in this space. When the news of Senator John McCain’s blood clot surgery broke Saturday, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced a postponement of the “vote to proceed” on Obamacare's Repeal & Replace, we pulled and temporarily postponed this opinion piece.
In light of the breaking news that now six members of the Senate caucus of Republicans failed even to agree to have a debate on the Repeal and Replace legislation, killing the bill, my overriding opinion in Monday’s ‘Something to Think About” is still valid. I would only add today the names of the four additional Senate Republicans who as of this writing Tuesday morning conspired to kill an open debate on the legislation: Senator’s Mike Lee of Utah, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Dean Heller of Nevada and Ron Johnson of Wisconson.
With untold millions of Americans in “real life” jeopardy because of the death spiraling Obamacare, elite, establishment Senate Republicans have failed to lead, failed to keep their promise, failed even to usher in an open discussion and debate on the biggest and most important issue before the nation.

“Failure to Proceed will be Disastrous for the GOP”
Bill Bunkley With Today’s Something To Think About
It is a crucial week for the 52 member coalition of Republicans in the U. S. Senate. After promising to repeal and replace Obamacare since it became law, Americans will find out if these Senators ever meant what they promised.
If Senate Republicans were honest with us, they must vote affirmatively for the first step in the process this week, the “motion to proceed;” that allows the bill to be heard, deliberated and amended. It is a simple majority vote.
A “no” vote to proceed is a vote to stop the repeal and replace process.
Senator Marco Rubio is voting to proceed. Senate Democrats will not.
Maine’s Susan Collins, Kentucky’s Rand Paul and others will be wrong not to vote to proceed.
Failure of the Republican’s this week to vote to proceed will be disastrous for the Grand Old Party and its supporters.
