As we wait to determine how the Delta variant will alter our lives again, another scourge of the pandemic's after-effects is about to strike: the lifting of a federal moratorium preventing rent evictions and home foreclosures.
It hasn’t gained much attention in the media. Still, if the moratorium is not extended by July 31, courthouses in Florida and around the nation will see an immediate avalanche of eviction and foreclosure petitions.
It will be yet another setback, and I’m certain cries will go out for a national housing bailout, costing even more billions of dollars in federal deficit spending.
And if a bailout is approved, it will only encourage socialists, as Americans would be programmed once again to believe the federal government should pay their housing expenses.

Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities.
