In about a week, Florida's preschoolers, elementary, middle school, and high school students are scheduled to get back to school. For some, it will be the first time in over a year they will be in a classroom.
Hampering the opening is the new COVID mutation Delta, which is triggering a wide range of opinions nationwide on how America, and for that matter, how Florida should move forward.
A national teacher’s union president hinted that maybe schools should not open.
That is the wrong approach to take.
Our students must get back in school: All student activities, sporting competitions with spectators, school clubs, and extracurricular events reinstated.
And it’s up to parents to decide whether their students wear masks or not. Academic life must return to as normal as possible.
