We got more good news for Florida’s economy, but maybe not so good news for driving around the state’s tourist attractions. Are we catching up to California’s freeway traffic?

Governor Rick Scott announced at the Florida Aquarium that our tourist economy saw a record 60.7 million visitors in the first six months of this year.

USA visitors dominated the numbers followed by foreign guests and our dependable Canadian beach lovers.

As a native Floridian, the news brings mixed emotions. I remember when there was zero traffic getting around the peninsula. Selfishly, I miss those days for sure.

I also know these visitors are getting a taste of our good life while they’re visiting, and as the baby boomers are proving, many will be back to call Florida their retirement home.

And like it or not, traffic will resemble California’s as more visitors are flocking to Florida.
