“Pride vs Asking for Help

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”

Air Date Monday, August 25, 2025

What is your default mode when you are faced with a situation you can't solve?

Are you one who is self-reliant at all costs, or are you open to asking for help or guidance from others?

Put another way, does your pride get in the way of making good and wise decisions?

When we act out with excessive pride, we shortchange ourselves of the benefit of facing a mistake or admitting we need help with the issue we are attempting to resolve.

On the other hand, when we are open to asking for help, we display an openness to humility and true strength.

The fear of being judged for asking for help will hinder your ability to make sound decisions. It's ok to ask.

A wisdom passage from the Bible in Proverbs 29:23 states, “A man’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit retain honor.”

Humility always trumps excessive pride. And people always notice.
