Scenes out of Afghanistan of the sea of humanity desperately trying to flee the Taliban are overwhelming. The look of fear on the women and children is breathtaking.
These scenes conjure up emotions in us who are safely 7,700 miles away from the chaos.
As we pray for divine intervention to protect Americans, missionaries, and Afghans who worked with us, let us not forget the members of our armed forces on the front lines dealing with this humanitarian disaster in real-time.
We have learned that our troops are traumatized by the endless masses that face them and the stress of the clock winding down as set by their commander and Chief.
Many of our soldiers are spouses and moms and dads themselves.
May God comfort them as they do their best to focus on the mission at hand.
Bill Bunkley is a 15-year veteran Salem Radio talk show host based in west-central /Florida, airing weekdays 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities.
