“Idalia: Hunker Down for a Very Long Night”

13+ million Floridians are under a hurricane or tropical storm warning. All eyes are on the Gulf as Hurricane Idalia chugs north over warm, almost 90-degree water temperatures, rocket fuel for hurricanes.

As the day progresses, Idalia’s impact will be felt throughout our western broadcast area from Ft. Myers through the Big Bend area.

All of us here on the Gulf Coast will be hunkering down for a very long night into Wednesday morning, August the 29th, as Idalia stalks the peninsula.

Be vigilant. Regardless of the latest projected path of Idalia, unexpected turns could evolve as she wobbles.

Throughout the night hours, be on the lookout for storm surge, Hurricane-force winds or gusts, heavy rainfall, and possible tornadoes.

Stay indoors and stay calm, and NO nighttime sightseers, it’s too dangerous.

Remember, we run from water, hide from winds.
