Amid a quiet labor day weekend an unspeakable tragedy unfolded early Sunday morning just outside Lakeland, Florida.
After staking out a house and family late Saturday afternoon, a former Marine sharpshooter Polk Sheriff Grady Judd described as “a rabid animal” returned at 4:30 AM to kill four, including a baby boy, wounding an 11-year-old girl, shot seven times.
It was a random act. The killer was an Afghanistan vet who allegedly had PTSD since returning home. He didn’t know the victims, was on meth, and said he was looking for an imaginary Amber who was going to commit suicide. He told his girlfriend he had been communicating with God.
Forces of evil were unleashed in that innocent home. This random act of violence reminds us of the fallen world we live in.
