I must state upfront that I haven't followed professional sports as I did years ago because of all the politically correct social statements that teams like to get sidetracked with these days. 

But tonight, the Super Bowl champs Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with quarterback Tom Brady whom we loved to hate until he put on the pewter and red, begin their journey to match the Tampa Bay Lightning with a repeat of their own.

With the team virtually intact from last season plus a few additional weapons for the Brady Train, Champa Bay could be poised to take our area bragging rights to a whole new level.

And don’t forget the Tampa Bay Rays who’s bullpen is #1, some big bats to boot, and a current 9 ½ game lead in the American League East over the Yanks. 

Keep your eye on Champa Bay.
