“Today I Have Been AML Leukemia Cancer Free for 5 YEARS”
Today is a day I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, and I have a praise report to pass along.
In the spring of 2018, I received a call that would change my life forever while at work in Tallahassee: I was diagnosed with the fast-moving, deadly cancer AML Leukemia.
The 5-year survival rate for people like me, 20 and over, with AML Leukemia is only 28%.
5 years ago, today, I received my life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant at the Moffitt Cancer Center, and today I’m still here alive!
I give my praise and thankfulness for my miracle to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I’m eternally grateful to my wife Toni, my son Zac, my family physician, Dr. Joe Whitaker, my Moffitt medical team, led by Dr. Lie Perez her assistant, Regina Sharp, and the Salem Media Group family.
And I thank all of you for years of ongoing prayers and support.
Bill Bunkley is a 17-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 27 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
