“Florida Special Legislative Session Begins Today”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Monday, November 6, 2023
Florida Senate and House of Representatives members are back in Tallahassee for a specially-called session by Governor Ron DeSantis. Items will be taken up that can’t wait until the start of the regular session in January.
Several bills are slated for consideration.
Among them is legislation that would grant $10 million for security improvement to state nonprofits that are at high risk for violent hate crimes. An additional $25 million is earmarked for Jewish schools. Religious worship centers are already funded, but museums would be added.
Proclamations in support of Israel and condemnation of Hamas, blocking more companies from doing business with the state because of Iranian ties, and eliminating enrollment caps for school vouchers are also destined to become law.
Clearly, this state supports our Jewish Floridians.
