“Bittersweet”  

On the day after a historic night for Governor DeSantis and Republicans up and down the ballot, the sweetness of victory for Biblical worldview and conservative voters here in the Free State of Florida is tempered by bitter disappointment across many parts of the nation.

DeSantis won a whopping 62 out of 67 counties, trouncing Charlie Crist. Senator Marco Rubio quickly rebuffed the challenge of Val Demings.

But it was a much different story outside Florida.

The Republican “Red” wave never materialized. There are bright spots here and there, and Republicans will probably take the U. S. House of Representatives, but four contested U. S. Senate seats will determine who runs that chamber.

Given many unresolved issues facing the nation, Republicans failed to gain their trust to resolve those issues, a missed opportunity.

Bill Bunkley is a 16-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 26 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
