Today we observe the Veteran’s Day.
It’s a day we remember both the living and the dead who served in the Armed Forces during peaceful times and times of war.
It was first proclaimed at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918, to commemorate the armistice, the ending of World War I.
A year later President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation referring to the day as Armistice Day.
Decades later in 1954, it became Veterans Day to honor all who served.
It’s a proud day for me because my mom and dad set a foundational principle for me: duty to country. Both my parents served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, the forerunner of today’s United States Air Force.
As you go about your day, remember the sacrifice our Veterans gave on your behalf as you enjoy the blessing of freedom.
