In the days following the tragedy at the First Baptist Church of Southerland Springs, Texas, Southern Baptists who compromise the Florida Baptist Convention have gathered at Brandon’s Bell Shoals Baptist Church. 

They meet annually somewhere across the state and their theme for this year’s meeting is “Eyes on Eternity.”

Now the convention theme was decided far before the ambush attack in Southerland Springs. And no doubt both Pastors and lay members in attendance came to the meeting with their sister church fresh in their thoughts and prayers.

So the convention theme “Eyes on Eternity” is especially meaningful, given the Florida Baptist leadership had no idea the additional significance the theme would take on this week.

While the world focuses on how the First Baptist Church of Southerland Springs could move forward, Florida Baptists know “Eyes on Eternity” is the answer to all those questions.
