Today is Thanksgiving.
It is a day here in America set apart to express gratitude for our many blessings.
Our life today is certainly different than that first colonial Thanksgiving celebration.
Most of us haven’t worked our fields for weeks on end nor worried about weather threatening our crops. We’ve not just finished hauling in the annual harvest.
That era was a tough one. Gratefulness for the basic provisions of life blanketed America, so much more so than what we see today.
Let’s not forget our rich heritage. Let’s not foolishly think that we’ve traveled through this life on an island of our own making.
Take heed of the many blessings you have to be thankful for today. Make this a very special day of thanks and gratefulness.

Bill Bunkley is a 16-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 26 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
