“President Trump: No Florida Offshore Oil Drilling

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”

Air Date Monday, November 24, 2025

I just learned of a terrible idea from the Trump Administration and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a part of the U. S. Department of the Interior.

They’ve hatched an ill-considered scheme to open a large stretch of our Eastern Gulf of America to offshore drilling.

I oppose any offshore drilling along Florida’s Panhandle. We’ve been through this rodeo before.

The last devastating oil spill off Florida's west Gulf Coast was the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, caused by an explosion on a BP-owned oil rig, spilling millions of barrels of oil.

Governor DeSantis announced his opposition, and so should you to our elected officials.

Tourism is a vital part of our economy, and another oil spill will jeopardize that revenue and the environment for years.
