“Tax Reform: Now It Really Gets Hard”

President Trump has every reason to be pleased that both the House of Representatives and Senate have approved their respective blueprints for tax reform.

But now the really, really hard negotiations are set to begin as both chambers send their representatives into joint conference committee hearings to try come up with an identical plan acceptable to Republican majorities in both legislative assemblies.

I say Republican as this will not be a bi-partisan affair.

Accomplishing this feat will rival Nick Wallenda’s high wire walk over Niagara Falls!

It’s true there are significant similarities within both bills, but getting enough House and Senate Republicans to agree on the remaining handful of contrasting issues, particularly over what is an acceptable deficit increase, will make crossing the wire to success before the end of the year quite a feat indeed.

The Republicans are now on the clock.
