“America’s Birth Rate Not Enough to Sustain Our Population”

Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About

The American population is shrinking. Not enough children are being born to sustain our current population levels.

Between the number of abortions and other forms of birth control, birth rates are continuing to fall.

The 2018 birth rate has dipped to its lowest level in 30 years. That number came in 2% lower than 2017 at about 3.7 million newborn babies.

If the U.S. wanted to maintain current population levels, it would need 2100 births per 1000 women, which equates to about 2 babies per mom.

Baby boomers are aging out in large numbers. Younger populations have different views on marriage and childbearing than their post-World War II counterparts.

Negative population growth and immigration inflows will continue to change the face of America in the future.
