Oral arguments were heard at the U. S. Supreme Court to decide if underage children should receive life-altering sex change procedures, which have long-term, irreversible consequences.

Tennessee passed a law banning gender-altering surgeries that use puberty blockers, hormone injections, and mutilation surgery procedures. More and more studies are concluding that there are significant risks in performing these procedures on minor children.

Those in favor of child mutilation claim the Tennessee law violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, sex-based discrimination.

Questioning from the perceived liberal Justices was interesting and absurd at times. Still, I sense the court might balk at prohibiting the procedure, opting to let each state decide the issue for its residents. 

It is child abuse to implement any of these procedures as a young child’s natural hormones are still developing.

I’d vote to ban the procedures.
