We often take for granted the men and women of law enforcement who bravely serve and protect us all around Central Florida. We live in an increasingly violent and dangerous world, but we know that when we dial 911, help is on the way.

And unlike some jurisdictions across America, we know we have the finest in law enforcement leadership among us.

With that in mind, I would like to congratulate Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri for being named the 2022 Sandra S. Hutchens Sheriff of the Year by the Major County Sheriffs of America.

Not only has he served and protected the citizens of Pinellas County, but he has served as President of the Florida Sheriffs Association and is chair of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Commission.

Job well done, Sheriff Bob, as we look forward to many more years of your exceptional leadership.

Bill Bunkley is a 17-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 27 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
