“Some Canadians Skipping Florida Vacations”

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About

Air Date Thursday, 27, 2026

Canadians visiting Florida are on a notable downtrend that has continued during the first half of 2026.

The trade war between President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney isn’t helping matters for Florida’s tourism vendors.

Approximately 1.68 million Canadians visited Florida in the first six months of 2026, a 13.9% drop from the same period in 2025.

Bookings from Canada to Florida destinations dropped more than 20% heading into the spring season.

Canadian travel is below 2019 levels, when 2.29 million Canadians visited Florida in the first half of that year.

Overall, Florida tourism is down 1.4% for the first six months of this year.

Farm products and automobiles aren’t the only economic sectors affected by the trade war; Florida tourism is right there as well.
