“Florida Attorney General Subpoenas Major League Baseball”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About
Air Date Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Attorney James Uthmeier has proven quite the litigator for Florida. He has fully demonstrated his conservative, no-nonsense defense of law and order.
Uthmeier issued a subpoena to Major League Baseball alleging it may be engaged in religious discrimination. The subpoena was a response to MLB's warning of consequences for Christian San Francisco Giants pitchers who wrote a scripture verse on the front of their “gay pride day” rainbow-colored SF logo and hat.
Uthmeier says embracing one ideological message while threatening Christians for their message is not neutral rule enforcement but religious discrimination.
Why can't sports franchises just focus on delivering their competitive product without muddying the waters with select social issues?
To that I say, “Just Play Ball.”
