We are now in the real first week of 2026. Everyone is back at work in earnest, including me.

2026 has opened in blockbuster fashion as President Trump is flexing his forceful, dominant policy in Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Iran, Israel, Ukraine, and now Greenland. 

On the home front, Trump continues to issue his nonstop executive orders. While waiting for the Supreme Court's ruling on his tariff adjustments, he’s targeting blue-state opposition to ICE and Homeland Security roundups, the Federal Reserve, prescription drug and health insurance costs, Credit Card Interest rates, tariff refunds, and more.

In Florida, it’s Governor DeSantis's last legislative session. He'll fight for a constitutional amendment to reduce property taxes and congressional redistricting. Both will be a battle.

Buckle up. I’ll have a lot to talk about on my weekday briefings.

Bill Bunkley is a 20-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs on weekdays from 3 to 5 pm across central Florida. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. In 2025, he underwent successful open-heart surgery to repair a heart valve. His wife is Toni, his son is Zac, and he attends Idlewild Baptist Church.
