“Governor Ron DeSantis’s Last State of the State”

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”

Air Date Wednesday, January 14, 2026

Yesterday, the Florida Legislature began the 60-Day 2026 Regular Legislative Session, highlighted by Governor Ron DeSantis’s State of the State address.

It was the last State of the State Address he would make as he is term-limited as Governor.

DeSantis took a nostalgic look back at his last seven years of numerous conservative accomplishments for the people of Florida, while often quoting the Founding Fathers and the Federalist Papers as the guiding light of his leadership.

Looking forward to his last year as Governor, his major priority is to reduce property taxes, adding to his very long list of achievements.

But achieving his final year of desired accomplishments will be challenged by the frosty relationship he has with House Speaker Daniel Perez.
