October has rolled in, and our boys of summer are still standing and living their dream: a run to be World Series Champions.

Three teams stand in the way of the Tampa Bay Rays' perfect season: the Cleveland Guardians and either the L.A. Dodgers or the Milwaukee Brewers. The long October baseball march lies ahead.

But for Rays fans, playoff baseball means “sleepless in October.”

I don’t know about you, but for many, staying up until midnight is later than they're used to, especially on weekday nights. For early risers heading to work, the choice becomes going to bed early and taping the game or staying up and dragging through the next workday.

For now, it’s not just keeping up with the Rays but the National League Championship Series as well.

Sometimes, sleeplessness is worth it.

Bill Bunkley is a 20-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs on weekdays from 3 to 5 pm across central Florida. In 2025, he underwent successful open-heart surgery to repair a heart valve. His wife is Toni, his son is Zac, and he attends Idlewild Baptist Church.
