I very much appreciate the retailers who stayed closed on Thanksgiving Day, even if their doors opened wide at midnight on Black Friday.
Retail and online employees are also blessed when they spend Thanksgiving with their families.
Each year, I have criticized retailers for their eye-catching “super deals,” which are only available on Thanksgiving Day, as a significant disruptor of family gatherings across America.
This year, “Black Friday” deals started popping up several days ago as big box retailers struggled to compete with online deals.
Now, my annual word of caution.
Be aware of unique items made just for Black Friday pricing. Look closely at the specs and fine print to be sure you are indeed getting that super screaming deal.
And don’t overspend. That only sets you up for plastic surgery on your credit cards when the bills come due in January.
