“Who Should Regulate AI: The Feds or Individual States”

President Trump says he’ll sign an executive order, “One Rule, which creates a single national federal AI regulator, to head off individual state regulation.

But Governor DeSantis says not so fast, Donald. 

DeSantis is pushing for state legislation this session to protect Florida residents. It appears to me that the legislature is also supportive of state AI regulation, as legislative committees in Tallahassee are hearing briefings this week on AI, Data Centers, and utility companies' responses to the massive energy demands of the Centers.

Trump contends a 50-state “patchwork” of AI laws would be complex, costly, and slow the development of AI technology, hindering our ability to compete with China. 

The ongoing legislative debate will be interesting.
