“Florida Will Regulate AI Despite Trump’s Executive Order Not To”

President Trump crafted an Executive Order prohibiting individual states from enacting AI safeguards.

But that’s not deterring Governor DeSantis from moving forward with Florida safeguards. DeSantis rightfully argues that under Article 1 of the U. S. Constitution, President Trump can’t limit state laws by an Executive Order. That right is reserved for Congress.

The Florida Citizen Bill of Rights for Artificial Intelligence initiative, which the Governor announced last week, in many ways mirrors what the White House intends to do.

Trump’s order states that the Federal government MAY take punitive steps against states that self-regulate, not SHALL punish states for noncompliance.

I’d be very surprised if Trump acted against Florida’s AI initiative.
