“Florida Attorney General Sues ChatGPT”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Thursday, June 4, 2026
An artificial intelligence company is being sued by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who alleges that it deliberately concealed severe safety risks to minors posed by its chatbot, ChatGPT.
The CEO of OpenAI and ChatGPT, Sam Altman, is also named in the suit.
AG Uthmeier says ChatGPT put children at great risk by allowing a dangerous product to reach millions of Floridians, including instructions to children on how to harm themselves.
Allegedly, a 16-year-old boy, Adam Raine, submitted suicidal thoughts to ChatGPT, which replied that it “won't try to talk you out of your feelings” and that Adam had planned a “beautiful suicide.” ChatGPT allegedly wrote Adam’s suicide note for him.
AI can be extremely dangerous. Parents, be engaged with your kids' online content.
